In memoriam 1966 - 2025

Why we started VelloHealth

"In my last company, LiveProcess, we built communications technology for hospital crisis teams - managing the response to patients with stroke, heart failure, falls. I learned that every crisis needs a coordinated team response. Through our work with the Veterans Administration, I saw firsthand the importance of serving high-vulnerability behavioral health populations, and witnessed the critical shift from inpatient care to community care.

In behavioral health, many clients live in a state of frequent crisis and constant instability. They need coordinated care teams - not just for crisis response, but to improve their stability and quality of life.

I wanted to understand these needs better, so I worked on an ACT team and learned their daily challenges - coordinating visits, ensuring staff safety, managing complex client needs, tracking medications and appointments - all while trying to deliver quality care in the field. I saw an opportunity to help these community outreach teams with the same type of software that my earlier company developed for hospital care teams. The name VelloHealth comes from 'cervello,' which is Italian for brain."
